Screen sharing allows you to show content from your computer directly to the student during a class. This can include documents, webpages, presentations, or other materials to help enrich the learning experience.
How to start screen sharing
- Enter your class and start the call as normal.
When appropriate, click the Share Screen icon to the left of the call/hang up button.
Choose what you would like to share:
- Your entire screen
- A specific window
- A browser tab (recommended)
Click Share to begin.
Check back in the classroom to ensure you see your shared tab, as seen in this screenshot:
How to stop screen sharing
To stop sharing, click Stop sharing in the sharing toolbar, or return to the classroom controls and click the Share Screen button again:
Things to know before sharing your screen
- The screen sharing feature will be available in both audio and video classes.
- If you switch to the tab or window you are sharing, you will not be able to see the student video or chat while it is active. Remember to check the classroom tab regularly to see the student and any messages they send.
- If you are sharing text (for example a webpage or document), it can be helpful to zoom in slightly so the student can read it clearly. Some students may be joining the class from a mobile device or a smaller screen, so text that appears normal on your computer may look very small to them. It can be helpful to ask the student if the content is clear and adjust the zoom if necessary.
Mobile view from the student's perspective, with content zoomed in.
Desktop view from the student's perspective.
- We recommend sharing a single browser tab or window instead of your entire screen.
- Use Google Chrome for best performance.
- Close other tabs or applications to improve performance.
- Avoid sharing content not relevant to your Twenix class
If you experience technical issues
Try the following steps:
- Refresh the classroom page.
- Ensure your browser is up to date.
- When you start screen sharing, your browser will ask you to choose what you want to share and confirm permission. Make sure you click Share/Allow, otherwise the student will not see your screen.
- Try sharing a specific tab or window instead of the full screen.
- If the issue continues, restart your browser and re-enter the class.
Good practices when using screen sharing
- Share only what is necessary for the activity.
- Let the student know what you are about to show before starting.
- When you start sharing, ask the student if they can see everything clearly.
- Stop sharing once the activity is finished.
